Summer, Holidays and Wine to Match

With the warm weather of summer upon us, now is the perfect time to relax and enjoy the outdoors before preparing for Christmas, which is just around the corner. Across All Saints Estate and St Leonards Vineyard, we have a selection of wines that are perfect for this time of year.

With the warmer days, we tend to want the lighter styles that can be served chilled as a refreshing wine. We have the All Saints Estate Riesling, Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio, which are all about fruit purity and varietal expression and intensity. Because the attractive characteristics of these wines are their aromatics and freshness, they should be served straight from the fridge

to look their best and to take advantage of the acid freshness on the palate. They are all perfect for enjoying with or without food throughout summer.

We also have two lovely rosé wines perfect for hot summer weather, both made in the style of an aromatic dry rosé. The All Saints Estate Rosa is a Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend and the St Leonards Vineyard Rosé is a Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. In both wines, the Cabernet Sauvignon adds fresh berry aromas and flavours to balance either the Sangiovese or Cabernet Franc, which have more delicate, savoury varietal characters perfect for this style of rosé wine.

If you still want to enjoy a red wine in the warmer months, then the All Saints Estate Sangiovese Cabernet or St Leonards Vineyard Cabernet Franc are great options. Both are a lighter style of wine, made with little to no oak to enhance the varietal characters and to be enjoyable, easy-drinking wines. The grapes are fermented in the old open vats with careful plunging to make them not too tannic and dry on the palate, before being pressed off to tank and prepared for bottling at the end of the year. This technique gives the wines vibrant colour and intense varietal fruit characters on the nose and palate, with a soft tannins on the finish.

So, with summer upon us, pour a glass of wine and enjoy life!
